So we’ve melted our beeswax and let everything cool. Now it’s time to start ripping away the cardboard. Remember there’s liquid honey in the bottom so we have to be careful. When the hardened block of beeswax is pulled away from the honey, it’s time to clean it up and begin the next process. The honey gets rinsed off, the dirt is scraped off the bottom, the beeswax gets weighed and melted down again.

The final step is to strain through the nylons onto a wax lined cookie tray and let it harden just enough to rip it apart into small manageable pieces. Beeswax is incredibly hard so a big block is hard to measure small amounts from, for recipes. The little pieces are left to harden completely, then weighed and packed into clean recycled milk bags.

Then it’s time for the real fun to start. Now what can I make with all my new beeswax, hmm ??! 🙂
